John Ambulance here is shining light on fraudulent First Aid tickets issued inDawson Creek. Branch Manager Angela Laczo said that she is aware of at least three fraudulent tickets, after employers have asked to see their credentials. Theyve gone and taken a course in some cases through somebody in Dawson creek and received a First Aid Certificate that is distinctly trying to be made tolook like its been issuedfroma St. John Ambulance, she said. Dawson Creek does have institutes where one can receive First Aid credentials with certified instructors however, it does not have a St. John Ambulance. So when the tickets popped up, they raised some questions. In one case, someone had a fake EMR certificate. Laczo says a proper EMR course takes two weeks, and costs $1,000. In a case like that, they could go and apply for a medic position if its not checked out and the tickets are not valid, theyre putting some serious risk into a job site or when they need to attend to an injured person, she added. Laczo believes that the person providing these fraudulent tickets is not a qualified instructor.
